“Between the golden land and the silent mountains. The sun rises higher, warming the mountains of Tumbaya. The moon still lingers faintly in the sky, a quiet witness to the morning.
We have a picnic among the mountains, with empanadas and bitter coffee. A candy wrapper, dropped by accident, catches the sunlight and gleams like a tiny treasure. I can take off my thick coat for the first time that day, and let the sun warm me.”
